Catch a Flick
If you love a well-designed space, candy, food, and prestigious movies, The Metrograph is one place you must check out. Located in Manhattan's Lower East Side, this artful movie theater offers a one-of-a kind experience for viewing films. It does'n feature your typical films, either, but films that specifically curated for lovers of classic flicks. The space resembles a 1920s NYC movie theater mixed with one of old-Hollywood's back lots, but totally reimagined to a modern day aesthetic.
Other than the movie, their are other things in the Metrograph to indulge in. Like the candy store located in the lobby of the theater. Just like any movie theater concession stand, it offers candy and drink for your movie viewing enjoyment, however this stand is not like your typical everyday one. It offers a wide variety of candy and drinks that go perfectly with that movie vibe. To top that off, they have the a restaurant called The Metrograph Commissary that is inspired entirely by old-Hollywood eateries. They have a ton of perfect meals, snacks, and drinks specifically designed for the moviegoers.
Right beside the restaurant, they have a bookstore with film inspired books. Every corner of this place is perfectly designed and how movie watching should be. At The Metrograph, I saw the film, Madonna Truth or Dare, which is one of my all-time favorite movies. I wanted to join in on celebrating its 25th Anniversary. This film will be showing at The Metrograph until tomorrow (September 7th), so if you have time on your hands between now and then, I definitely recommend heading over there. And, check out the website for the future film schedule and their curated events.
